thoughts about courage and how it tests our persons
Courage often gets misunderstood as the ability that only is exerted at a time when there is a great tragedy or extreme danger.. when in reality courage is much more close to us on a day to day basis..
Winston Churchill said 'courage is the virtue of being able to stand up and speak, as well as the ability to sit down and listen'. it can take just as brave a person to sit down and listen to unwanted truths as it takes to stand up and speak out against something they don't believe in. you can do nothing worthwhile without courage.. and only a person with courage can live life without regrets..
Courage means taking an initiative to make a change when inactivity is the easier answer.. in order to grow as individuals we must have to courage to face truths about ourselves and have the initiative to change problems or expand strengths.. 'Greatness' in analysis- is largely due to bravery and courage.'
The opposite of courage isn't cowardice, its conformity.. its not enough to believe in something, you must live for it. its not worth living unless you have something to die for..
important points about building up courage that stood out to me,
-convictions are stronger then fear- ('believe is something you will argue about- convictions are something you will die for'. having convictions for your beliefs will drive courage into your actions for them. )
-Vision is clearer then my doubts
-Spiritual sensitivity is louder then popular opinion
-right actions are more robust then rationalization
-self-esteem greater then self-protection- (belief in ones self is of more value then always trying to protect oneself from peoples opinions and social tendencies to insult and look down on and from straying out of conformity.)
orison swett marden stated "live up to your resolve, work at what the creator meant for you to work for in the perfecting of his plan, and you will be invincible. no power on Earth can hold you back from success"
which is a wonderful quote completely backed up by what is stated in the bible,
David also said to Solomon his son, "Be strong and courageous, and do the work. Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the LORD God, my God, is with you. He will not fail you or forsake you until all the work for the service of the temple of the LORD is finished 1 Chronicles 28:20
in closing i discovered that in order to succeed in life you must have courage, without courage there is no other way for you to reach your potential.*
